专利说明:

The technical field of the invention is that of gripping devices for large caliber shells.
Large caliber shells are heavy to carry by room crews, it is known to use shells gripping devices, which coupled with a lifting means, relieve the servants in these handling tasks.
Known gripping devices often employ complex actuators such as jacks or motors to grip the shell on the one hand and release it on the other hand. These actuators because of their complexity are expensive and reduce the reliability of the device due to the risk of breakdowns of their own.
In order to simplify the operation, US Pat. No. 4,039,727 teaches the use of a gripping means comprising a pair of jaws intended to be placed each on either side of the longitudinal axis of the shell to be grasped. The jaws pivot in an open position when pressed against the shell and then return to a closed position under the action of a spring, once the diameter of the shell crossed (jaws below the axis of the shell), thus blocking the exit of the shell.
The liberation of the shell is done by pivoting the jaws in the open position by an auxiliary actuator.
Despite its simplification to seize the shell, the device according to US1039727 still requires an actuator for the liberation of the shell. The invention proposes an even more simplified gripping device in which no powered actuator is needed. In addition the invention allows a safer grip of the shell.
Thus, the invention relates to a gripping device for shells, comprising at least one pair of jaws intended to grip a shell, each jaw pivoting between an open position and a closed position about a pivot axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shell, gripping device characterized in that the pivot axis of each jaw is located between a lower end and an upper end of the jaw, the upper end of each jaw allowing the closing of the jaw by pressing this upper end on a shell to be grasped, the upper end of each jaw having a notch for interfering with a cam lug to maintain the jaws in the closed position, the cam being secured to a pivoting pallet which the pivoting makes it possible to rotate the cam and thus to disengage the lug from the rotating trajectory of the notch of the jaw, which has the effect of effect of releasing the opening of the jaw.
Advantageously, the gripping device comprises two pairs of jaws and two pairs of cams, each pair of jaws and cams being arranged to be positioned in the vicinity of a different end of a shell to be grasped.
Advantageously, each cam is secured to a pallet by a bar.
Advantageously, the cam comprises a stop intended to limit the opening stroke of the jaw.
Advantageously, the gripping device comprises a fixing interface for securing the device with a lifting means.
Advantageously, the gripping device comprises an elastic means for returning the cam and the pallet in a position tending to block the opening of the jaws. The invention also relates to a stretcher intended to receive a shell in a substantially horizontal position, stretcher characterized in that it comprises a bearing zone intended to interfere with a pallet of a gripping device as cited above. The invention will be better understood on reading the following description, description made with reference to the appended drawings, drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of three quarters of a device according to the invention positioned above a shell.
2 shows a cross-sectional view in parallel planes along the section planes P and P 'and in directions A-A, of the device according to the invention in the open position, above a shell.
3 shows a cross-sectional view in parallel planes along the section planes P and P 'and the directions A-A, of the device according to the invention in the closed position, positioned on a shell.
FIG. 4 represents a cross-sectional view in parallel planes along the sectional planes P and P 'and the directions A-A of the device that divest itself of a shell.
Figure 5 shows a perspective view of three quarters of a device according to the invention of the device releasing a shell over a stretcher.
According to FIG. 1, a gripping device 1 according to the invention is disposed above a shell 100 in order to seize this shell 100. For this purpose, the longitudinal axis 2 of the device 1 is placed substantially in parallel to the longitudinal axis 101 of the shell 100. The device 1 comprises a frame 3 provided with fixing interfaces 4, in this case rings 4, intended to secure the device 1 with a not shown lifting means, such as an elevator arm or a rail hoist, for example.
The device 1 comprises two pairs of jaws 51 and 52 located at each end of the device 1. A first pair 51 located towards the front AV of the device is intended for gripping the shell 100 at its ogivée portion. A second pair 52 is intended to grip the shell 100 at its base 102. Each jaw 5 can rotate about a pivot axis 6 parallel to the longitudinal axis 2 of the device 1.
Each jaw 5 of each pair 51 and 52 and their relative axes 6 are intended to be placed on either side of the longitudinal axis 101 of the projectile 100 for its capture.
As can be seen in FIG. 2, the pivot axis 6 of each jaw 5 is located between an upper end 5a and a lower end 5b of the jaw 5.
This figure is a sectional view along the parallel planes P and P 'identified in FIG. 1. The right-hand part of the figure shows a jaw 5 of the pair 52 situated at the rear AR of the device. The left-hand part of the figure shows a jaw 5 of the pair 51 located at the front of the device AV.
Each jaw 5 is configured to have a tendency to open by pivoting the upper portion 5a of the jaw 5 towards the inside of the device 1. The pivoting will be obtained by conventional means such as an elastic means tending to rotate the jaw 5 as desired. It will also be possible to position the center of gravity of the jaw 5 with respect to the position of the pivot axis 6 so that the jaw pivots naturally in the desired direction.
To limit this opening movement, the upper part 5a of the jaw 5 comprises a notch 7 interfering with a stop 8 of a cam 9 which is pivotable along the axis of a shaft 14 arranged parallel to the axis of pivoting 6 of the jaws 5.
In this way, the device 1 and its pairs of jaws 51 and 52 are kept in an open position.
To grab a shell (see Figure 3), it is necessary to lower the device 1 on a shell 100 until the upper parts 5a of each jaw 5 are in contact with the shell. To better ensure this contact, the upper inner portion of the jaw 5 may include a bulge 18 visible in Figure 2.
It will be noted in passing that according to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the device comprises shims 15 in its rear part AR which make it possible to position the shell longitudinally with respect to the device 1 by coming to press the rear face of the base of the shell 100 on these holds 15.
Continuing the lowering of the device 1 to the shell 100, the jaws 5 bear against the shell by their upper end 5a and pivot about the pivoting pins 6 and are closed gradually.
Once in the closed position the jaws 5 enclose the shell 100 and are locked in this position by the interference of the notch 7 of each jaw 5 with a lug 11 of the cam 9 which is pivoted downwards.
Each cam 9 located on the same side of the device 1 is secured to a pivoting pallet 13 by the shaft 14 (tree visible in Figure 1). Each pallet 13 protruding outwards from the device 1 comprises an elastic means 12, in this case a spiral spring 12, which has the effect of rotating the cams 9 so that they oppose the pin 11 to the opening path of the notch 7 of the upper portion 5a of each jaw.
As shown in Figure 4, the shell 100 is thus firmly locked between the jaws 5 which are in correspondence of shape with the section of the shell they enclose. For this purpose, each pair of jaws 51 and 52 will have a spacing adapted to the perimeter profile and to the diameter of the zone of the shell that it will grasp.
According to FIG. 5, the shell 100 thus grasped by the device 1 is transported vertically to a stretcher 200 intended to collect the shell. The longitudinal axis of the device 1 and that of the shell 100 are placed parallel to the longitudinal axis of the stretcher 200. The stretcher 200 comprises a mat 201 rising substantially vertically and laterally to a drop zone 202 for shells.
At the top of the mat 201 is a support zone 203 intended to form an interfering surface with the pallet 13 of the device 1. Thus, by lowering the device 1, each of the pallets 13 located on either side of the device 1 is come to rest on one of the support zones 203 and be raised as the device 1 is lowered. In doing so, raising the vanes 13 causes the cams 9 to pivot, which will withdraw their lug 11 against each other. the notches 7 of each jaw 5. The weight of the shell 100 acting on the lower part 5b of the jaws will cause their opening. The shell 100 thus released will fall into the area of removal 202 of the shell stretcher 200.
Thus, both for the operation of seizing the shell and for its release, the device does not use an actuator that consumes energy (such as a motor or a jack). The device is therefore simpler and more reliable than those known from the prior art. In addition, the device ensures better holding of the shell by proposing jaws whose profile is adapted to its different sections.
